Enforcer 5.0 is now live.  With it comes two major changes:

  • Support for the AuthZen protocol: allowing Enforcer to provide authorization decisions to any AuthZen capable SaaS service and API gateways  (Amzon AWS , Kong, Zuplo).
  • Structured Attributes in Alfa: allowing complex authorization models to be expressed.

AuthZen

AuthZen, backed by the OpenID Connect Foundation, is a new standard being proposed to allow SaaS services to delegate authorization requests to an external service.

Enforcer now supports the AuthZen protocol, thus allowing Enforcer to handle authorization requests for other services.

Structured Attributes

Structured Attributes allow for related data to be grouped together into a single attribute. This allows complex authorization logic, which would normally require many attribute values or many repetitive rules to be condensed and expressed elegantly.

With Structured Attributes, you can:

  • Group data in a single attribute
  • Write cleaner, more maintainable policy logic
  • Support more complex rule sets
